ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a photographer and an experienced printer who experiments in black and white, digital and silkscreen methods.

My photographs document human activities and investigate environmental effects resulting from natural climate changes.

Portraits and landscapes In relation to light and form presenting socio-economic developments and changes.

My fascination with weather and climate has been a concern for many years. I have been documenting our changing surroundings and environment to show how light informs line and how we distinguish that form from what is known and how we begin to interpret it through present-day understanding of historical context.

My recent Work explores the contrast between landscapes and portraits as an apocalyptic vision.

As well, I have created many artist books to further explore the photographic image in various non-narrative and illustrative contexts.

I’ve been a cancer survivor since 1993 and I consider myself a careful observer, beautifully recording in minute detail the reality we call life.
